Possum Merino

Merino wool and possum fur are two exceptional natural fibres and when combined together result in knitwear perfection. The need to reduce the number of possums in New Zealand became apparent in the 1940's, a hundred years after they had been introduced from Australia and their population had grown to a staggering size that it was devastating the native flora and fauna. The idea to blend possum fibres with native merino wool was developed in the 90's as a by product of possum control and it was a wonderful discovery. Possum merino is a velvety soft yarn, unsurpassed in warmth and durability and feels truly luxurious to wear. It is soft and light much like cashmere but is highly resistant to pilling which makes it extremely appealing.
